The Equerry Bolesworth International Horse Show secured a Highly Commended in the category ‘Event of the Year’ at the 2018 Marketing Cheshire Awards.
At a glittering awards dinner the Marketing Cheshire team praised the quality of the visitor experience and the continued investment in the show by the organisers, Bolesworth Events LLP.
The show, an annual event and now in its 11th year takes place on the Bolesworth Estate Showground with the iconic Bolesworth Castle as the back drop. Drawing some of the world’s finest equestrian sportsmen and women, the four days of competition included world class dressage, show jumping and the more than entertaining feature classes.
Congratulating her team, Show Director Nina Barbour commented: “It is a testament to the efforts of our entire team that we have been Highly Commended against tough competition. At Bolesworth, we strive to deliver only the very best for our visitors and I am delighted that our efforts have been recognised by the wider local community.”
Highlights for this year’s show included scintillating dressage performances from the multi-garlanded Carl Hester and Charlotte Dujardin, a record-breaking Equitop Myoplast Puissance height from Irishman Shane Breen and the ‘round of all rounds’ jump-off from Shropshire-based Paul Kennedy and Cartown Danger Mouse to secure the final day’s Equerry Grand Prix.
A host of other crowd-pleasers included the Bentley Manchester Ride & Drive with leading celebrities and world-class riders jumping a course of show jumps before heading off in a Bentley Bentaga to race through a set of cones, the fastest round taking the honours.
The Bolesworth Elite Auction, sale of superbly bred young show jumpers, Cazenove Capital Eventing Grand Prix, William and Pippa Funnell Masterclass and Van Olst Horses and Carl Hester Demonstration meant there was something for everyone at this year’s show.
Against a backdrop of equestrian highlights, the show included a fabulous shopping village, a range of dining options and a prestigious hospitality experience. Also featured in the show this year was a Networking Business Lunch, encouraging local business to experience a world class equestrian event and to see the venue hire options that Bolesworth Estate has to offer.
The award was accepted by Mrs Diana Barbour. The 2018 show welcomed over 30,000 visitors to Cheshire, increasing visitors to the region and taking Cheshire out to the global equestrian community.
