Throughout February there is a host of fascinating webinars hosted by the team at HorseTribe.

On Thursday 3rd February at 8.30pm – Andrew McLean will discuss – Naughty horses … or are they?

The team welcome Andrew McLean back to HorseTribe for his final webinar in a series of three. This time, Andrew will be discussing the origin and meaning of what riders and owners often interpret as ‘naughty behaviour’.Andrew and Purdie 300x200 - A Host of Fascinating Webinars on HorseTribe This Month

Co-director of Equitation Science International and winner of the Australian Eureka Prize for Science, Andrew McLean developed and manages the Australian Equine Behaviour Centre, specialising in horse training and behaviour modification.

Horse lovers can easily ask so much of their horses on a daily basis and the majority of the time, they happily comply, but on the odd occasion when they say ‘no thanks, not today’, we often attribute that to them misbehaving or being stubborn. But what if we knew that they were saying no because they were stressed, or confused? Would that change how we perceive and react to their behaviour?

In the webinar, Andrew will:

  •  Help us to understand the root cause of ‘naughty behaviours’ such as spooking, napping, rearing and bucking
  • Explore what these behaviours mean
  • Explain how we may play a role in reinforcing and creating difficult behaviour.-Give us guidance on what we can do to get rid of the negative behaviours

On Thursday 10th February at 7.30pm – Claire Myers will look at Using Pilates to Improve Your Riding

A rider and teacher of equipilates teacher, Claire will help riders to help their horses by developing coreCLaire on horse 225x300 - A Host of Fascinating Webinars on HorseTribe This Month strength and symmetry. • Explain the impact of asymmetries on ourselves and our horses
  • Give practical suggestions as to how we can become more symmetrical in how we ride
  • Show us how to develop our core strength to improve our posture and alignment

On Thursday 24th February at 7.30pm  – Jason Webb discusses – Settling your horse out and about.

Do you worry about your horse’s behaviour when you’re out and about with them? It may be a trip to hire an arena, going hacking with a friend, attending a fun ride or to compete at an event – whatever it is, having an over excited or difficult horse can spoil the whole occasion.
