Whisper needs a trip to the dentist

Whisper the pony, arrived at Woodside Animal Sanctuary almost 10 years ago. A case of neglect, rescued from Dartmoor with her son and daughter.

She has always been a shy character and has suffered with hoof problems over the years. Now almost 30 years of age, other age related conditions are starting to set in, with her teeth a primary concern. She has now received an x-ray which has revealed that she needs a good dental with teeth that need removing.

Whisper is one of five ponies that Woodside offers permanent sanctuary to. The charity helps 19 different species of animals to either find new loving homes or offer sanctuary for the rest of their lives. Woodside’s Founder Carole Bowles MBE said “We have numerous resident animals and at least 100 looking for homes on site at any point. As you can imagine caring for all these animals and keeping them up to date with vaccinations and similar is costly, so it is essential that we look at raising funds when high one –off bills like this come in”.

Whisper is a real sweetheart of a pony with staff, and although still weary from the years of wild roaming and sad history, she shows great trust and lives an enriched life at the sanctuary. On nice days she enjoys walks in the woods adjacent to Woodside and is a big fan of her favourite salt licks.

The sanctuary are asking for donations towards Whispers dental treatment. Carole continued “Every donation, whether big or small can make a big difference. We are so very grateful to all who help us to ensure that Whisper and animals like her are given the best of care.
