Top showjumper Joe Whitaker’s exclusive Masterclass in April for Stubbing Court Training Ltd (SCT) apprentices and employers was a hard act to follow, but another member of the world’s most famous showjumping family, Joe’s cousin William Whitaker, succeeded in spades.
William, who represents Great Britain at senior championship level, coached nine groups of SCT apprentices and employers during his own Masterclass at Parklands Equestrian Centre, Sheffield, on 8 June.
He said: “’I really enjoyed the training – we had enthusiastic groups of riders, all keen to learn and improve.”
The Whitaker family have been great supporters of SCT’s apprenticeship programmes for many years.
William added: “It’s a fantastic scheme, and it’s surely unique that apprentices and employers are given these incredible opportunities to have regular training with world class professionals as part of an apprenticeship!”
SCT Chief Executive Belinda Turner MBE said: “William was brilliant – he is as talented a coach as he is a rider, and it was wonderful to see the people he taught growing in confidence and learning new skills through William’s emphasis on the fundamental principles of correct riding. We are also extremely grateful to Parklands EC for their great horses and facilities.”
SCT’s acclaimed Masterclass Series with internationally renowned riders and coaches continues with a Masterclass delivered by Chris Bartle, former Badminton winner, Olympic dressage rider and coach to Team GBR’s senior Olympic eventing team, on 5 July at Speetley EC, Chesterfield.
SCT believes passionately that its apprentices and employers deserve every opportunity to learn from and be inspired by the best riders, trainers and coaches in order to develop skills and confidence.
