Battles MD & WinnerWith a £3,000 first prize at stake and other substantial prizes up to sixth place providing a £8,500 total prize fund, kindly donated by Lincoln horse care products, the field included eventing stars Mark and Tanya Kyle, Oliver Townend, Piggy French, Clayton Fredericks and Matthew Wright.

In a close run competition, the winner’s purse fell to Fiona Hobby and Royal Colours, with the talented 11-year-old just gaining the lead. Robin Dunlop’s well-designed track featured water crossings, combinations and joker fences allowing riders to improve their score at the very end of the round.

Said Fiona: “It was a great competition and a wonderful day. The prize money is excellent and I couldn’t be more pleased. Royal Colours is a careful horse and loved the track, JumpCross is a brilliant sport.

The course was well designed and required the rider to really think about the approach to fences and the speed you were travelling at.”

Oliver Townend, riding Pepper Anne finished second after two good rounds. Oliver is a regular at the Lincoln JumpCross Challenge andOliver & Young Rider Final Winner this time he managed to scoop the £2,250 second place prize.

This year the JumpCross Young Riders Final took place in the morning with a superb 1st place round by Rachel Dinwoodie ridingClayton Fredricks Ringwood Abi. The Young Riders were also paired with an Event rider and their final scores were combined to determine the joint winner’s.
