The points-based series is designed to give riders increased opportunity to compete at Pony Club Open level, and gain greater experience to enable them go on to compete at The Pony Club’s Area and Championship level.
The 2013 Likit Open Eventing League proved incredibly successful with 36 events registered, and over 500 horse and rider combinations taking part; with top ten winners enjoying a prize giving and tour at 4* event rider Nick Gauntlett’s yard.
Pony Club Branches whose events include an Open (1.10m) Class, are eligible to register for the League with entrants gaining points for places and double clear rounds. The horse and rider combination with the highest number of points at the end of the season will win, with places being awarded to 10th.
“It’s fantastic to have Likit on board with us again for The Pony Club Open Eventing League, as their products are incredibly well received by winners, and have now become synonymous with taking part in the league” comments Jo Hayward, Secretary of Pony Club Eventing. “The 2014 league is due to get underway this weekend, and we have been approached by events all over the country to be part of the league, all of which will provide more opportunity for our Open level competitors to practise and prepare for our Area Competitions and Championships”.
Based in Scotland, Likit manufacture a wide range of stable toys and treats. Brand manager, Lindsay Gall comments, “Likit are delighted to continue our support of The Pony Club Open Eventing League and are very excited to announce that this year in addition to the great Likit prizes for the winners we will be giving every single competitor a free sample of our new Likit Electro-Bar, ideal for use before and after exercise to help replenish lost salts and energy levels; and don’t forget to share your #selfies with your Likit on our Facebook and Twitter pages to be in with a chance of winning special Likit prizes!”
While Likit products undoubtedly have a fun element, the range has been developed out of a serious need, whether it is to alleviate stable boredom, or address the issue of overweight horses and ponies. Likit is donating prizes in kind to third place at each Likit Open League event, and the overall point’s winner and nine runners-up will also receive Likit prizes at the end of the series.
