I can’t believe that we have now completed our season of shows. The season flew past once we got started. The last show was quiet but those who attended enjoyed a lovely day once the heavy showers had stopped. I must say a special thank you to our Working Hunter and Dressage judges who very kindly filled in for us at the last minute. Their attendance was appreciated by competitors and the committee. The ground was probably the best it has been all season. What a dry season we have had – I don’t very often wish for rain, but I was hoping several times during the summer.
Once again the lead reiners were out in force in the games class and as usual there was a good entry for the child handler class. It is always pleasing to see so many young competitors who will hopefully go on to bigger and better things. As a competitor it is thrilling to win, initially, your first rosette and then secondly, to win a red rosette. It was lovely to hear from one of our new young members that she had achieved this wonderful accolade and the pleasure was etched all over her smiling face.
I would like to thank all our judges on the day who worked tirelessly. The committee deserve special thanks, without all their support and hard work the shows would not go ahead, and thanks also go to those people who help out on show day, stewarding, judging Most Appealing or selling raffle tickets – thank you to you all.
Presentation Evening – Saturday 26th November at the Post Mill Centre, South Normanton. Ivy and I are busy collating points and prize-winners will be notified by letter early October.
A special thank you to everyone who supported us throughout the season. I hope you all have a good winter with your horsey friend, either taking it easy, or getting out and about. Don’t forget to keep an eye on the website for any news or updates at www.ripleyriders.org.uk
