The detail

image2 300x225 - Prancing on Hooves’ Quest for Glory! At the beginning of 2018 Katie Turner, Hope Mussell and Issy Cass from Elms Farm, Caythorpe near Sleaford teamed up with Ellie Grimsey from RAF Cranwell Saddle Club to form their BD Team Quest team ‘Prancing on Hooves’. The BD Team Quest series has provided the girls with a common goal as they have been improving their flatwork in an enjoyable way. With the focus firmly on fun and friendship, the girls trained and entered their first BD Team Quest qualifying rounds with modest expectations.

However, with strong teamwork, and encouragement from their trainers and parents the youngsters have progressed through the qualifying rounds, competing at Intro and Preliminary level with consistently improving scores, and were thrilled to qualify for their Regional (Northern) Final.

On 22nd September 2018 the team headed to Epworth Equestrian Centre near Doncaster to compete against four other qualified teams. The teams ‘prancing ponies’ Billy, Danny, Roscoe and Aine all rose to the occasion and helped the girls to put in a very strong team performance with everybody scoring between 62-67% out of a maximum 100%. At the prize-giving the team was delighted (and enormously surprised!) to be told that they had qualified for the National Championships!

On 27th  and 28th October all four combinations will perform two challenging tests, against all of the other U21 teams that have qualified from across the UK. Good Luck Prancing! #teamquest

Where and When?

In 2014, British Dressage (BD) launched a new competition for riders of all ages and abilities called ‘Team Quest’ (TQ). In 2018, the Kent & Masters Quest series is now even bigger and better with over 2000 riders taking part and riding for their team.

Team Quest provides riders at Intro, Prelim and Novice with the opportunity to take part in a fun and relaxed dressage competition.  There are two age categories for teams; Under 21 (for riders up to the end of the year of their 21st birthday) and Open (riders of any age). Teams of three or four riders ride as individuals across any of the three test levels and the best three scores count towards an overall team total, with the highest team total winning the competition. A team is awarded Team Quest points based on that team’s best five placings and are then ranked on a Regional Leader board, which takes the top teams forward to a Regional Final and then the National Championships!

The Kent & Masters Quest National Championships 2018 will be held at Bury Farm, Buckinghamshire on 26th – 28th October 2018
