Lady Manners School’s successful Equestrian Team have claimed the National Schools Equestrian Association (NSEA)’s 90cm Show Jumping title at the Royal Windsor Horse Show.
Three of the school’s riders took part in the NSEA competition held at the show on 11 May, having qualified for the national final at a previous event. The team, comprising Lauren Maycock, Amelia Maycock and Cally Needham, competed against 38 other teams. They were drawn to ride last in the competition, which added to the pressure of this prestigious competition. The standard was so high that, by the time the team jumped, they knew that they needed three clear rounds to earn any chance of a placing.
The team took the pressure in their stride, riding three flawless rounds in the quickest combined time of the day. They were delighted to learn that this earned them the top place on the podium and the title of National Champions!
Team Manager, Sarah Green (also Teacher of Science at Lady Manners School), said: “Lauren, Amelia and Cally’s achievement is amazing – they have worked extremely hard to earn this award. The Equestrian Team make me proud at every competition. The team spirit that is always evident was demonstrated on this occasion when the original fourth team member graciously stepped down when the competition requirements changed from four to three riders. Many congratulations to all of the riders and thanks to their ever supportive parents.”
