Simon BuckleyWordsworth 9 12 300x225 - International Showjumper Simon Buckley to ride on Sue Carson SaddlesWith a showjumping career that has already seen him win a Junior European Team Gold medal and more recently several prestigious senior National Championships, Simon Buckley is now a high profile producer of talented young competition horses and the latest international rider to enjoy support from Sue Carson Saddles.

Based in the Cumbrian Lake District, close to Windermere, Simon is a partner in the family’s Hill Farm Stud, which focuses on competition liveries, stud services and training both horse and rider. Riding on the saddle he helped to design, the Sue Carson Saddles ‘Special’ jump saddle, Simon is enthusiastic about both the looks and performance of this latest addition to the Sue Carson range of saddles.

“I was already riding on a Sue Carson Saddles Velocity jump saddle and had found the Flair air flocking concept to work fantastically”, he explains, “so when Sue asked me to help with the design of a new jump saddle I was very keen to get involved.

“The new ‘Special’ is everything a show jumper would ever want in a saddle and not only does it perform – my horses are moving and jumping in a much looser way – but it has the design features, quality of manufacture and the sort of fabulous good looks to really turn people’s heads. It is a serious performance saddle.”

Sue Carson Saddles distributor Kate Jackson recently fitted a ‘Special’ to Simon’s newcomer and foxhunter prospect, the grey gelding Wordsworth ahead of this season’s second rounds and Simon confirms, “Although he’s a little green at this level as yet, he is obviously more comfortable in the new saddle, as the design allows him to use all of his scope. Without any exaggeration it has produced a massive improvement and that will help us produce results when it matters. I am delighted with it.”
