Following a nationwide search for pictures of owners demonstrating the unique bond between horse and rider, Laura Marsden, 26, was chosen as the winner with a picture of herself and her horse, Balenca (stable name Bea), a 14 year old bay Belgian Warmblood mare, owned by Laura for ten years.
After receiving more than 150 entries Laura and Bea were selected as the winners after the judges agreed that her picture captured the emotion and friendship between owner and horse perfectly.
Laura said: “Although Bea and I have always had a strong partnership, the last few years have proved to be our best. Like so many lucky owners, I trust my horse with my life and when I saw that Ride-away were running a cover star competition based on the bond between a horse and rider, I simply had to enter.”
On winning the competition a professional equestrian photographer and a stylist, armed with the new and exclusive products from the A/W15 collection, visited Laura and Bea at her stables for the photoshoot.
Laura continued: “I couldn’t believe it when I received the email saying we’d won the competition, I was with Bea at the time, so needless to say she had some celebratory treats. We thoroughly enjoyed our day with Ride-away and I’m so proud to have been a part of it.”
Janet Cahill, Head of Marketing for Ride-away, said: “The bond between a rider and their horse is a unique one that relies heavily on trust and we wanted to demonstrate this on the cover of our catalogue.
“By opening up the competition to the public we got to see some fantastic entries but Laura and Bea’s bond was clearly evident from their entry and they make superb cover stars. We can’t wait to see the final catalogue.”
The new catalogue will feature hundreds of products from horse rugs and saddlesto country clothing and footwear. To request a catalogue just visit www.rideaway.co.uk.
