Blue Chip has a talent for finding and sponsoring talented young show jumpers. Beth Vernon was spotted at the Blue Chip Winter Championships by Blue Chip’s Sponsorship Manager Sarah Butler, “I was so impressed with the very special bond Beth obviously has with her ponies” says Sarah.
Beth had her first riding lesson when she was just three-years-old and even then it was obvious she was a natural. Her show jumping career took off and now aged fifteen she has just represented Great Britain at the European Championships, in Poland. Not only did she help the team jump to Gold, becoming European Champions, but Beth riding Allyson Blagg’s amazing pony Falaza was one of only four to jump three double clears during the competition. Th
ey fought against the clock in the jump off to win and also steal the individual Gold medal with an unbeatable clear round in 29.88 seconds! On the way back home, the team stopped over in Berlin to find the German press wanting to interview and congratulate them on their fantastic achievement of winning both team and individual gold medals. Beth still can’t believe she won, “I wasn’t even expecting to be chosen for the European Championship team, let alone come home with a team and individual Gold medal! Falaza jumped fantastically and since feeding Blue Chip Original, all my ponies have been on top form and have more stamina, especially Falaza. Original really helped her cope with the stresses of travelling and she arrived ready to jump her heart out.”
Beth now has a busy time ahead, with her ponies qualified for The Horse of the Year Show, Zirina in the Blue Chip Junior Newcomers and Falaza and Cinderella Girl in the Junior Showjumper of the Year, as well as having the up coming Olympia qualifiers to tackle.
Everyone at Blue Chip is so proud of Beth winning two Gold medals! With help from Blue Chip her success is sure to continue, as she follows in the footsteps of their other international show jumping protégés Paul Barker and Mathew Sampson.
