Cleveland Bay breeders had a successful evening at the recent Yorkshire Sport Horse Awards Dinner held at The Bridge, Walshford, in North Yorkshire.
Ripon-based breeders, Sue and Nigel Cowgill received The Yorkshire Sport Horse Trophy for the Best In-Hand horse at the Yorkshire Sport Horse Summer Show with Hawlmark Classic Twilight.
The three-year-old filly was also runner-up to Eastern Index for The Baydale Trophy, which is awarded in memory of the late Sheila Fenwick for the Best Yorkshire- Bred In-Hand Show Horse. Twilight is by the thoroughbred stallion, Classic, out of Highpasture Hawlmark, a Premium Cleveland Bay mare.
The East Yorkshire Breeders Trophy for the Best Youngster up to three-years-old gaining the most points in qualifying competitions was won by Steve Pullan’s successful two-year- old filly, Jaguar Moon.
Steve is particularly proud of this result as Jaguar Moon was his first home-bred foal. The filly is by the Olympic stallion, Jaguar Mail, out of Knaresborough Moonbeam, another Premium Cleveland Bay mare.
Both horses were produced and shown during 2011 by Peter Richmond and family.
