GuyHerbert-DavidCarpenter-PhilipHerbertThe Countdown Begins….. With less than a week to go before the first horse boxes roll through the gates for the inaugural Brigstock International Horse Trials at Rockingham Castle, the final touches are being made.

Riders from 16 countries, including ten veterans from the London 2012 Olympic Games, have chosen to come to Rockingham next weekend. Philip Herbert’s cross country courses await them.

“Rockingham Castle is a wonderful venue, with both flat and undulating ground and lots of sky, so plenty for horses to take in. We know from experience that new courses can cause more problems than established ones so while, in keeping with the spirit of Brigstock, the fences are up to height, they are relatively straight forward, but with ditches, water and woodland to negotiate,” explained Philip.

The courses are compact, offer great viewing from the startbox, and include the final fence from London 2012, on loan to Rockingham from Burghley.

The Horse Trials gates open at 9am daily and close at 5pm. Tickets prices are £5 per car on Friday and £10 for Saturday and Sunday and £2 to walk in. More information is available at
