Bodmin Intake Jan 2017 300x188 - Bransby Horses Welcomes Additional Ponies from Bodmin MoorAs the welfare crisis continues on Bodmin Moor, despite the best efforts of multiple organisations, Bransby Horses recently welcomed an additional ten mares from the Moor.

Named by staff, Buttercup, Blossom, Camellia, Primrose, Ivy, Daisy, Lilac, Jasmine, Tulip and Snowdrop were assessed by vets on arrival.

Unfortunately, Jasmine had an infection from a previous injury that could not be treated due to her feral state. This meant that sadly, it was only fair to end Jasmine’s suffering and she was put to sleep just days after arriving.

The remaining nine mares are receiving high-level veterinary care before they move to the Peter Hunt Handling Yard for rehabilitation, in the hope that one day they will find loving foster homes

In May last year, Bransby Horses made a 16-hour round-trip to collect eight ponies from the Moor; all of which recovered from the starvation and neglect they had suffered, following months of veterinary care. The ponies were feral but have now conquered their fear of humans thanks to the dedication of staff at the charity.

Bransby Horses continues to work with other organisations to tackle the ongoing crisis; it is only with public donations and legacies that they are able to do so. If you would like to support their rescue and welfare work, please visit the website for further information
