One of the British Horse Society’s rescue ponies is looking for a new home with a knowledgeable and caring family.
An ideal lead rein or first ridden pony, Bluey is only being re-homed due to the three children in her current family having completely outgrown her. She has been in her present home in Northamptonshire for more than seven years and the charity would ideally like for her to be re-homed not too far away. However, the most important thing is that she goes to live with the right people, so applications from further afield will be considered.
Bluey is a 12.2hh, cremello mare and approximately 15-years-old. She has been used to living out all year round but will need a strict management plan to help prevent laminitis. Bluey also receives daily medication for Cushings Disease which will need to be continued.
The mare has been ridden regularly by the family children and enjoyed great fun at Pony Club camps and shows. She is a fantastic all-round pony enjoying jumping, cross-country and hacking both alone and in company. She is good to load and travel and behaves very well when being handled and ridden. Bluey particularly enjoys being groomed!
The BHS are looking for an experienced and knowledgeable home for Bluey. Because horses are social animals they wouldn’t want her to go somewhere where there were no other horses or ponies. The Society does not sell any of their rescue ponies so they are looking for someone to take Bluey on loan. Anybody wishing to take Bluey on will need to be approved by one of the BHS welfare team, who will pay regular visits to check on the pony’s well-being.
If you are interested in loaning Bluey and would like to know more, please contact Emmeline Hannelly, Welfare Executive, [email protected] or 02476 840571.
