Blue Chip’s sponsored showjumper Beth Vernon has won the prestigious Junior Sports Person of the Year award. The awards were held at the Nottinghamshire Sports Awards where she was shortlisted for the award with two other finalists. The other finalists were Sophie Coldwell, a tri-athlete who won a gold and silver medal at the 2011 European Championships and a swimmer, Georgina Hohmann, who has won many times and excelled in swimming.

Beth also won the Junior Sports Person of the Year at the Mansfield Sports Awards, where she was up against 8 other finalists. Beth has a fantastic team of horses and ponies for 2012, including FMedals - 00071_2832x4256 cr helen revingtonalaza, Cinderella Girl and Blitzer Go.

Beth’s horses are kept in winning condition with Blue Chip Original and she also uses Blue Chip’s new flavoured, instant calmer, AppleCalm. Beth says “I gave Zirina AppleCalm one hour before warming-up, as she can be a handful when I’m trying to mount – previously she has spun round, and even reared up and gone over backwards, despite someone being stood at her head. After giving her AppleCalm, she stood perfectly for me to mount, with no-one to help!”

Beth will be competing with her horse ‘Blitzer Go’ and her pony ‘Zirina’ at the Blue Chip Winter Championships at Hartpury, Gloucestershire 11th – 15th April, where she was spotted by Blue Chip last year and given the opportunity of sponsorship. Since then she has gone from strength to strength.
