This year’s Belton International Horse Trials sees a host of fantastic developments that promises to deliver a wonderful day out for all the family. Based just off the A1 on the outskirts of Grantham (In the grounds of the National Trust’s Belton House) for three days at the end of March, this beautiful estate is transformed into a hive of activity that will see a combination of some the best equestrian eventing competition in the country with trade stands and family activities to ensure that this is a day out you wont forget in a hurry.
Whatever you want from a day out in the country, Belton 2012 has it to offer, World class equestrian competition, stunning scenery, acres & acres of beautiful unspoilt Parkland to explore plus over 100 Trade stands and various entertainment that will excite the whole family.
Whether you are looking to sample the thrills and spills of the nail biting International Stunt Display Team, the electric atmosphere of the trail-blazing Inter-Hunt Relay or marvel at the fever pitch frenzy of the Pony Club Games, there is no end to the entertainments to enjoy. The traditional fun fair make a welcome return for those brave enough to climb the ‘Helter Skelter’ or ride the ‘Flying Chairs’. Perhaps you could undertake a brisk walk around the Cross Country Course in this exquisite Lincolnshire estate, (designed by Captain Mark Phillips) an aesthetic delight and a spine tingling marvel as the riders pit their wits against the mammoth task ahead. After building up an appetite you could head off to the Artisan Food Alley, showcasing exotic cuisine from near and far. Why not bring your four legged friend and enter you both in the have a go ‘Fun Dog Show’?
For those a little less adventurous or who prefer a slower more relaxed pace, you could wind your way round the classic car displays and wander the trade stands at your leisure, all offering a great opportunity to pick up an early season must have bargain and after take refuge in the Grantham Mall Marquee or at the fabulous food court to enjoy a tasty meal and glass or two of refreshment watching the world go by. You could find yourself sat next to an Olympic / International Champion – past or future, as the worlds Eventing Elite decend on Belton keen to impress selectors and gain Olympic qualification. A host of the UK’s and overseas top riders will be showcasing their talent with over 15 nations entered.
With a Charity Ladies Lunch package on Friday £30pp (including celebrity chef demonstrations), a Country Side Lunch package on Saturday £35pp and Sunday Family dining from £17.50, including FREE entry on Friday afternoon (4pm) for late night shopping.
