The eventing competition was a truly thrilling spectacle, with Nicola and Opposition Buzz in their customary position as trailblazers for the team on cross-country day, recording a superb clear inside the time, with Nicola saying, “The crowds were fantastic and were so loud in cheering us on I couldn’t hear my stopwatch beeping at the minute markers so I had to keep glancing at it, I am thrilled with how Dodi went cross country – the cheers seemed to spur him on.”
After the show jumping phase, where Nicola and Opposition Buzz jumped a beautiful round to incur only four penalties, Team GB finished in silver medal position, describing the team feeling as “utter relief” that they had finished with a medal. “It was recognition for all our supporters and all those people who helped get us there,” Nicola said.
On arriving home in Yorkshire, where a crowd of friends and supporters had gathered to welcome home it’s Olympic Silver Medallist, Nicola said, “It has been such a wonderful privilege to be able to compete in such a fantastic Olympic Games that Britain has put on – I’m just incredibly proud and humbled at the same time.”
Opposition Buzz, meanwhile is having some downtime, relaxing in his field, having made Nicola’s dreams come true.
