Young Entrepreneur launches Equestrian Performance Brand

Scottish based Equestrian Clothing Brand, Apt Cavalier Ltd, has launched their introductory collection “On The Yard”. Founded by Fashion Graduate and keen British Eventer, Sarah Johnstone who is based in Galashiels, Apt Cavalier’s aim is to produce sportswear which professional riders will love to ride in, at a price which amateur riders can afford.

Sarah graduated from Heriot Watt university in 2012 with a BAHons degree in Fashion Design for Industry, Sarah has spent time working in the industry gathering the relevant skills and experience to not only start her own business, but to run it well. She has been horse riding herself since she was eight years old and currently competing her own horse, Woody, up to BE Novice level. This season alone has seen them qualify for numerous British Eventing Reginal finals and the Scottish Championships.

Sarah said that combining her degree with her experience in the competitive horse world just “made sense”. When asked why she had chosen to start her own business she commented that “other sports such as cycling have moved ahead with the technology used in their clothing, whereas horse riding has been slightly left behind. There has been progress in the last few years as we now see lightweight helmets, plastic stirrups and innovative air jackets replace their old-fashioned predecessors in the collecting ring, so this is the time that Apt Cavalier can really shine.”
